Abstract
815,776. Pipe joints. COMPAGNIE DE PONT-A-MOUSSON. Feb. 10, 1958 [Feb. 21, 1957], No. 4230/58. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXVI] A pipe joint is sealed by an elastic sealing ring R 1 , Fig. 2, (Group XXVI) which is mounted within the socket 8 of the joint in a recess which conforms to the outer contour of the ring. As shown in Fig. 2, the socket 8 is provided with a conical surface 11a which mates with a corresponding surface on the ring R 1 so that when the latter is compressed the conical surface thereby centralizes the pipe in the socket. The joint shown in Fig. 8, is for connecting large-diameter concrete pipes and in this case the ring R 5 is mounted on the end of the pipe T 5 before its insertion into the tapered bore 38 of the socket 37. The ring Rs is disposed in a groove 33 of the pipe T 5 which is provided with an adjacent reinforced layer 34. Penetration of the pipe is limited by a harder body-portion of the ring resisting compression.
