Abstract

A fabric is stiffened by being bonded to or embedded in a web of a copolyester comprising 20-70% of ethylene terephthalate units and 30-80% of ethylene isophthalate units. The fabric may be woven or non-woven and may be of glass, cotton, polyacrylonitrile, nylon or polyethylene terephthalate. The fabric may be impregnated with the copolyester by dipping it in a solution thereof, heating and pressing, and may in this case have been pretreated by wetting with a solution of an organic polyisocyanate and drying. The fabric may be plain or may have a woven or printed design or pattern. Specifications 687,055 and 766,290 are referred to.
