Abstract
924,723. Centrifugal separators. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. March 9, 1960 [March 12, 1959], No. 8300/60. Class 23. [Also in Groups XXXIV and XXXV] In a centrifuge a magnetically suspended rotor 1 of ferromagnetic material having low residual magnetism has a lower port depending into an annular vessel 11 filled with damping liquid 12 and having wires 10 supporting a cylinder 9 of ferro-magnetic material having low residual magnetism. The rotor has a cell 2 enclosed between mica plates 3 which permit the viewing of the material in the cell by means of optical equipment 15. The rotor is supported by the field of a solenoid 4 having a tube 5 of iron alloy, the vertical position of the rotor being controlled by a coil 6 whilst the horizontal position is controlled by the cylinder 9. The rotor is rotated by rotary electromagnetic field produced by coils 7. The centrifuge is operated in vacuum or rarefied hydrogen.
