Abstract
850,233. Magnetic separators. FAUDI FEINBAU G.m.b.H. Oct. 10, 1956 [Oct 10, 1955], No. 30868/56. Class 117 A magnetic filter for liquids comprises a gas-tight housing 20 enclosing a filter space 10 into the top which projects one or more chambers in the form of tubes 5 of non-magnetic material each being closed at the bottom and open at the top to receive an assembly of magnets 2 and pole pieces 3 which are withdrawable from the chambers. The magnet assemblies 2, 3 are secured to a plate 9 and the filter space 10 is substantially closed by iron flaps 7, on the lower ends of the tubes 5, which are held up horizontally when the magnet assemblies are in the operating position. Liquid to be filtered enters the filter at 11, passes around the tubes 5, on the walls of which iron particles and accompanying impurities are deposited, and leaves at 12. On raising the magnet assemblies the attracted material is drawn upwardly to form an annular mass 8 at the top of the tubes 5 and the flaps 7 fall to an oblique position. When the magnetic assemblies are wholly withdrawn the mass 8 sinks through the open flaps to a collector space 10<SP>1</SP> where it can be drawn off at 15. Magnet assemblies near the outlet 12 may be provided which are more powerful and more closely spaced than the assemblies near the inlet 11.
