Abstract

925,949. Valves. CRANE CO. Jan. 2, 1961, No. 51/61. Class 135. A gate valve comprises a closure member 14, formed with tapered closure surfaces 15, 16 which co-operate with seat faces 12, 13 formed on the end of seat rings 7, 8. The closure member is reciprocable and is grooved to be guided by a U-shaped guide 18, which is located in the valve body and positioned by lugs 19, 21, 22, whereby lateral movement of the guide is prevented. The body is also recessed as at 23 to provide pockets which collect any sediment. The sealing rings 7, 8 are preferably welded to the casing.
