Abstract

958,797. Valves. CRANE CO. Oct. 18, 1960, No. 35686/60. Heading F2V. A gate valve comprises a housing 1, Fig. 2, having an inlet 2 and an outlet 3, the outlet receiving a body seat plate 29 welded as at 31 and having a port 38 and a flat surface engaging the flat surface of a valve closure member 21. A flange 12 is secured across the open end of a bonnet neck 7 and a pin 32, secured to the flange engages the body seat member to prevent rotation. The inlet is also preferably provided with an insert 23, welded at 26, and having a port 27. The closure member 21 has a port 22 and the ports 22, 27, 28 are preferably of substantially triangular shape of which the bottom side may be of arcuate form. As shown in Fig. 4, the side plate 29 is provided with guide portions 53, 54 which engage the closure member 21 to guide it throughout its reciprocal movement and preferably the ports 27, 28 are so shaped to provide a Venturi-shaped flow path through the valve.
