(N0 ModeL) J. H. YUND. PLATE, 0UP, AND SAUGERHOLDER.
Patented May 20 we NORRIS warns m, mom-mm WhSPIINGTON, n. c.
UNITED STATES AIENT OFFICE. I
JAMES H. YUND, OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA.
PLATE, CUP, AND SAUCER HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part-of Letters Patent No. 428,543, dated May 20, 1890.
Application filed December 30, 1889. Serial 110335394. (No model.)
To a whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES H. YUND, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Grand Island, in the county of Hall and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plate, Cup, and Saucer Holders; and I do hereby declare that the followingisa full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improved plate, cup, and saucer holder, the object of the invention being the provision of an inexpensive and ornamental device of this character which will effectively hold the articles in the best possible manner for displaying them.
To attain the desired object the invention consists, first, of a device constructed of wire adapted to hold said articles; further, of a device comprising two parts adapted to be secured to a suitable base, one serving as a plate and the other as a cup and saucer holder; and, finally, the invention consists in certain details of construction and adaptation of parts of the device for the desired purpose, substantially as illustrated, described, and specifically claimed.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a device embodying my invention with the plate, cup, and saucer applied; and Fig. 2 represents a similar view of the device.
wire, and the bends a of the plate-holder serve as bearings or supports for the cup and saucer holder, as will appear. The cup and saucer holder B is also formed from a single piece of wire, and comprises the horizontal arm Z) and the vertical arms I), which rest against the support or base, the outward inclined arms 19 bent outward to form the eyes or loops 19 which engage in the bends a of the plate-holder, and the horizontal arms I), having the upward bend and horizontal portion 1), the whole forming a yoke for supporting a cup and saucer.
From the foregoing description and drawings the manner of using my device will be readily understood, and it is evident that I produce a simple, durable, cheap, and ornamental device which will hold the articles named in the most desirable position for displaying the same; and it is also evident from the spring-eyes on the plate-holder that the device can be quickly and easily attached to a nail or the like, or detached therefrom at any place, as may be found most convenient.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States As a new article, the plate, cup,and saucer holder consisting of the vertical arms a, havin g spring-loops a, the outward-bent portions 0 and inward-converging spring-yoke a and the horizontal arm I), the vertical arms I), the outwardly-inclined arms b having bends b engaging with the bends a of arms a and the horizontal arms I), having upward bond 5 and horizontal portion 1), substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereunto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES H. YUND. Witnesses: G. B. BELL,
J. G. GAWLEY.
