UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' ELIZABETH KLOPP, OF COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO.
TRAClNG-WHEEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 438,734, dated October 21, 1890.
Application filed January 14, 1890. Serial No. 336,909. (lIo model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIZABETH KLOPP, a citizen of the United States, residing at 0010- rado Springs, in the county of El Paso and State of Colorado, have inveited a new and useful Tracing-VVheel, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in tracing-wheels.
The object of the present invention is to provide a tracing-wheel of simple and inexpensive construction, adapted to be readily carried in the pocket, and provided with a cutting-blade arranged at a convenient point Within the frame.
' The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed outin the claim hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of atracing-wheel constructedin accordance with this invention, the cutting-blade being shown open and ready for use. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, one of the sides of the frame being removed to show the disposition of the parts within the frame. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view..
Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 designates the handle or frame, which is approximately semicircular and composed of sides 2, suitably secured together. Projecting from the lower curve end of the frame or handle is atracing-wheel 3, that is constructed in the usual manner of a disk, provided at its periphery with a series of teetht to perforate paper or other fabric to be marked.
The tracing-Wheel is pivoted between the sides of the frame and projects a suitable distance below the same, and the said frame has arranged across its upper straight edge a knife-blade 5, which is pivoted to one side of the frame and is engaged in the usual manner by a spring 6, arranged between the sides of the frame or handle alongits edge. When the blade 5 is not in use, it lies within the sides of the frame or handle across its upper straight edge, and in use extends out h 'ori-' zontally in a convenient position. i
From the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings it will readily be seen that the tracing-wheel and knife are conveniently arranged within a frame or handle adapted to be readily carried around in the pocket or pocket-book.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
The combination of the'handle or frame composed of the approximately semicircular side pieces, the tracing-Wheel pivoted between the side pieces and projecting below their lower curved edges, the knife-blade pivoted at one side of the frame and arranged horizontally across its upper straight edge, and the spring adapted to engage the blade, sub stantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto aflixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ELIZABETH KLOPP.
