i 2 PLOW.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 13, 1911.
Application filed July 15, 1910. Serial No. 572,216. 7
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED W. POOLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ozark, in the county of Franklin and State of Arkansas, have invented a new and useful Plow, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a plow and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts as hereinafter described and claimed.
The object of the invention is to provide a plow of simple and durable structure which includes a landside plate pivotally connected with the gunnel of a plow share whereby the rear portion of.v the landside plate may be adjusted vertically together with an arm mounted upon the inner surface of the landside plate and a filler plate located upon the upper edge of the landside plate and being adapted to be adjusted upon the said edge with means for holding the said filler plate in a fixed position.
In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 is a side elevation of one form of the plow. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of one form of land side plate and filler plate. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of another form of land side plate and filler plate. Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional View of the form of land side plate and filler plate as illustrated in Fig. 4, said view being out on the line 5--5 of Fig. 4.
The plow structure includes a beam 1 to which is adjustably attached a U-shaped standard 2 in the usual manner. At the rear end of the beam 1 is connected (directly or indirectly) a rearwardly disposed lug 3 to ,which the lower ends of handles 4 are atard 2 in the manner as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings. Securing bolts pass through the ridge portion 7 and the said standard 2 in the usual manner. A mold board 8 is mounted upon the upper portion of the frog 6 and a share 9 is mounted upon the lower forward portion thereof. In this form of invention the land side plate 10 is pivotally connected at its forward end with the gunnel 11 of the share 9 and if desired the rear 1pprtion of the said land side plate 10 may laterally disposed as at 12 (see Figs. 4 and 5) in order that a detachable heel block 13 may be applied to the said land side plate.
plate 17 is secured to the forward end of the 7 arm 14 by means of a pivot bolt 18 and may be positioned upon the upper forward edge of the land side plate immediately behind the edge of the mold board 8 as shown in Fi 1. in Fig. 4 difier slightly in form from the similar parts shown in Figs. 1 and 8. In this form the arm 14 is not adjustably secured to the land side plate 10 as is the case in the form illustrated in Figs. 1 and 3 but it is fixedly secured to the said land side plate and the filler plate 17 is provided with one or more elongated slots 15 through any one of which may be passed a bolt 18 which is carried by the arm 14. Thus it will be seen that the filler plate 17 is adjustably mounted upon the upper edge of the land side plate 10 but the arm is in. fixed position with relation to the land side plate.
Having described the invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is:
A plow comprising a frog, a share mounted upon the frog, a land side plate pivotally The arm 14 and plate 17 as shown 7 connected at its forward end with the gunnel In testimony that I claim the foregoing as of the share, an arm applied to the inner my own, I have hereto afiixecl my signature surface of the land side plate, a filler plate in the presence of two Witnesses. attached to said arm and adjustably posi- ALFRED WILLIAM POOLE.
tioned upon the upper edge of the land side \Vitnesses:
plate, and means for fixing the filler plate in ALBERT D. REYNOLDS, an adjusted position. L. S. CovINGToN.
