The $45 million sum equates to $15 million per year. This is a homecoming for Kupp, who grew up in Yakima, WA and later attended Eastern Washington University. Reports consistently indicated that Kupp preferred to remain on the West Coast, with some journalists reporting that Seattle, specifically, appealed to him. It remains to be seen how the Seahawks will deploy Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, two slot-oriented players, but the coaching staff undoubtedly has a plan in mind. Kupp averaged 1.88 yards per route run across the full 2024 season. In 12 regular season games, he caught 67-of-97 targets for 710 yards and six touchdowns.
  • SEA Wide Receiver #15
White was not tendered as a restricted free agent but will still return to Seattle on a cheaper contract. He caught two passes for 44 yards on offense and got some run on special teams last year. Even with the Seahawks extremely thin at wide receiver right now, White will be fighting for a roster spot during the summer.

For some perspective, Justin Jefferson’s cap number for the 2025 season, per Over the Cap, is $15.17 million. This report offers a little more insight into the reportedly “insane” amounts of money Kupp has been asking teams for during his team visits. Kupp, 31, remains a reliable receiver and great route runner, but there’s no denying his production has fallen off in a big way since his 2021 season where he nearly set the league’s single-season receiving yards record. Injuries have taken their toll on Kupp, who has missed 18 regular season games since 2022. Every team negotiating with Kupp is well aware of his injury history, which could further complicate these negotiations. The Seahawks, Saints, and Broncos seem like the three most likely players in the Kupp sweepstakes at this time, although the Cowboys are also rumored to be in the mix at some capacity. Howe reports Kupp is willing to take less money to play at “a preferred destination,” but any teams willing to meet his financial demands could have an inside edge to get a deal done.
  • FA Guard #76
Jenkins started 14 games for the Bears last season, but became expendable after the team went out and upgraded both guard positions this offseason. Jenkins earned a PFF blocking grade of 75.4 last season and has graded as a top-15 blocker in each of his last two seasons. The former second-round pick is a more than serviceable starter who would immediately provide an upgrade to a Seahawks line that saw some of the worst guard play in the league last season.
  • FA Wide Receiver #10
This report comes shortly after Schefter reported the Cowboys made “a push” for the veteran receiver’s services. Reports yesterday suggested the Broncos, Saints, Jaguars, and Seahawks could all be in play for Kupp. Kupp’s ties to the Seattle area due to him being a native of the area and attending school at Eastern Washington could make the Seahawks a more desired destination, but it sounds like he will have plenty of options to consider before deciding on a new home. Kupp reportedly doesn’t want a drawn out free agency process, leading many to believe he could sign somewhere before the weekend. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports Kupp’s asking price “has been a hold-up” for some teams, which may delay a decision. This will continue to be a developing story until Kupp finds his new home.
  • FA Wide Receiver #10
Dallas appears to be making a late push for Kupp, who reportedly wants to have a short free agency. Schefter reports Kupp could decide on a new landing spot before the weekend. The Seahawks and Cowboys appear to be the two teams most interested in his services per Schefter. Kupp could provide reliable hands and sharp route running to a Cowboys offense that is expected to lose Brandin Cooks in free agency. Dallas has over $46 million in cap space to play with, according to Over the Cap, giving them more than enough money to play with to get a deal done if Kupp wants to become the latest vet to head to Jerry World.
  • MIN Center #56
As Pelissero notes, the Vikings “signed veteran Ryan Kelly to replace Bradbury, a first-round pick in 2019 who started 88 games in Minnesota.” Earlier today, FOX Sports’ Brock Huard reported that Sam Darnold “loved” playing with Bradbury during his 2024 run with the Vikings. Huard expects Bradbury’s likely trade cost to be a sixth- or seventh-round pick. Perhaps, this is the Vikings’ way of asking the Seahawks for at least some sort of mild compensation. Seattle certainly would figure to upgrade its interior blocking personnel before the 2025 season kicks off.

Garafolo adds that Kupp “is going to make a lot of money” and could get close to $16 million. Kupp grew up in Washington state, and Garafolo confirmed that playing for his hometown team does appeal to Kupp, but this could simply come down to money. Per OverTheCap, the Seahawks currently have $60.8 million available in 2025 cap space. The Jaguars have $46.4 million and the Saints have just $16.289 million. No one should count the Saints out though, given GM Mickey Loomis’ infamous salary cap gymnastics. Garafolo adds that he expects Kupp to put pen to paper with a new team today.
  • SEA General Manager
The comments come roughly one week after the Seahawks traded DK Metcalf to the Steelers. Garafolo explains that Metcalf is “really good at what he does, but he’s not a five-tool wide receiver.” This fact apparently weighed heavily in Seattle’s decision-making. By choosing to trade Metcalf away, instead of extending his contract, the Seahawks saved a significant amount of money. The Seahawks reportedly plan to “use that money to reallocate elsewhere, and perhaps bring in some receivers that are on the market, that do a little bit of everything.” We’d recommend some receivers who could earn targets besides Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but we’re not sure if that’s a tool or not.
  • FA Wide Receiver #10
31-year-old Kupp, of course, is from Washington and played his college ball at Eastern Washington. Seattle is also direly short on wideouts after cutting Tyler Lockett and trading DK Metcalf. It can likely only serve to help their case that they play Kupp’s former Rams squad twice per season. Despite Kupp’s many question marks — injury and aging chief amongst them — he should have a new home within 48 hours time.
