Not so lucky, though, were the Muscovy ducks that graced the pond of the US ambassador's residence in Regent's Park, Winfield House.

However, deputies also uncovered an unexpected aquatic trove: 35 live abalone, a northwestern pond turtle, wet clothing and tools apparently used to pry abalone from rocks, authorities said in a statement.

Water voles now roam the network of channels, streams, and ponds the beavers use to navigate the flood plain.
