Luddism is, like, really in right now.
Every week, a group of New York City teenagers meets up for “Luddite Club” meetings, where they read books, draw, and complain about TikTok. Weary from their poster parents and perpetually online classmates, the Luddite Club prefers flip phones, cassettes, and books like “Into the Wild.”
And I love that for them! When I was 16, adults around me thought it cute and quaint that I bought vinyl records and used a typewriter for no reason. I was not like other girls. Now I’m a tech reporter.
