Sailas was put in charge of a Parliamentary working group to find ways to offset the effects of a shrinking work force.
"In the next decade, the number of people of working age will drop by 200,000. When the shortage of workers is this big, the working group had to focus on ways to get people to work more."
For example, sabbaticals and education leave might be on the chopping block.
Sailas also added that higher wages aren't enough to stem the flow of qualified workers abroad. He says that Finland has to take advantage of all the options at its disposal, including encouraging immigrant labour, decreasing unemployment and encouraging people to retire later. YLE, Keskisuomalainen
