Abstract

1297416 Articulated vehicles ARMSTRONG ENG Ltd 28 July 1970 36464/70 Heading B7H An articulated vehicle has a chassis 1 pivotally connected to a turntable 3 carrying an axle 4 and wheels 5, the axle 4 being steerable by a drawbar 6. A second turntable 7 is mounted centrally of a sub-frame 8 having wheels 8 and a third turntable 11 carrying wheels 13. The wheels 13 are turned relative to the sub-frame 8 such that their axle 12 is normal to the longitudinal axis 14 of the trailer. A shaft 15, Fig. 2, pivotally mounted in brackets 16, carries arms 17 connected by a transverse member 18. The arms 17 are connected to the turntable 11 by links 20 and universal joints 19 and 20. When the vehicle makes a left turn the drawbar 6, Fig. 1, turns axle 4, such that lines 25, 23 and 25 through the respective axles meet. near a point 24 to reduce scuffing to a minimum
