Abstract
1436716 Electric motors PAPST-MOTOREN KG 23 May 1973 [25 May 1972 7 Sept 1972 27 Oct 1972] 24706/73 Heading H2A In a brushless D.C. motor comprising a permanently magnetised rotor 26 and a substantially flat air gap in which is disposed at least one flat stator coil which interacts with the rotor to produce an intermittent electromagnetic torque, the stator is provided with at least one ferromagnetic member which co-acts with the rotor to produce an auxiliary torque which supplements the gaps in the electromagnetic torque. The motors disclosed are axial air gap motors with axially magnetised rotor magnets 18, 19 disposed on opposite sides of two stator coils 11, 12, the current through which is commutated in dependence on the output of Hall plate 42. The ferromagnetic member in the stator shown comprises an array of ferromagnetic pins 45, 45<SP>1</SP>, 45<SP>11</SP> mounted on insulating stator base plate 10 and so formed that the reluctance torque produced by the interaction of the pins and rotor magnets is mirror symmetrical with the electromagnetic torque, so that the resultant motor torque is substantially uniform. A variety of forms of the ferromagnetic stator member, in addition to the form shown, are disclosed.
