Heating by electricity; resistance furnaces and: ovens.-Longitudinal china-ware slips h are arranged around a pipe j of circular, rectangular or other cross-section, or around the outer wall of a small oven to be heated, a resistance wire c being secured around the slips h by one or more strips g of fireclay cement. Additional layers of the wire c may be secured by strips of fireclay cement around longitudinal china-ware slips arranged on the previous winding; in this case the under layers need not be cemented to their supporting slips. Short slips arranged end to end may be used instead of single long strips, the ends of the short slips abutting together diagonally.
