Valves.-One or more valves, which may be slide valves such as 13, rotary valves, or automatic lift or flap valves, control the admission oi air to a two-stroke engine through a single row of piston-controlled ports, which may be divided by horizontal vanes, or through a double row of such ports such as 5<a>, 5<b>.
