Abstract

286,283. Mayer, K. Oct. 11, 1927. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 4, 1928]. R÷ntgen-ray apparatus. -A diaphragm screen or layer consisting of a large number of spaced-apart but closely adjacent particles or grains impermeable to R÷ntgen rays and of microscopic or sub-microscopic dimensions, is interposed between a body to be photographed and the sensitive plate or film, to obviate the lack of definition due to secondary radiation from the body. A similar diaphragm screen may be interposed between the plate and the intensifying screen to obviate the effect of diffused radiation from the intensifying screen. The diaphragm screen may be incorporated with the plate or with the intansifying screen, and it may be prepared photographically by exposing a plate or film to a beam of parallel rays produced by passing R÷ntgen rays from a distant source through slotted diaphragms. A number of plates may be simultaneously exposed, and the diaphragm screens obtained therefrom may be superposed in register between the body and the plate. The figure illustrates an assemblage of a sensitive plate c, two diaphragms b and two intensifying screens a, the elements being in contact for use. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the subject-matter of the divided Specification 309,529. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
