Abstract

286,413. Watts, Fincham, & Co., Ltd., and Downs, J. Jan. 8, 1927. Spigot joints with slotted socket. - A coupling for connecting a hose 17 to a stand pipe &c. comprises a longitudinally split sleeve 11, which is externally screw threaded and tapered and provided with internal corrugations 12, and an outer member 16, which is internally screw threaded to co-operate with the sleeve 11 and is provided with an internal shoulder 14 at its inner end against which the end of the hose is adapted to abut. The sleeve 11 is positioned on the hose and is compressed thereon by the outer member 16, an inner tubular member 18, which mav be integral with the outer member, being used if necessary to make the end of the hose more rigid.
