Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 135.] In heating-systems employing steam or other heating fluid, the regulating-valve is controlled by an expansible rod or tube which is heated by an electric heater. The expansible rod or tube may also be subject to the hot fluid within the radiator. The radiators, e.g. in railway carriages, may be provided with hand-lever control which may also cut off the heating circuit when the steam supply is cut off. A radiator 2, Fig. 1, is supplied with steam from a pipe 1 through a hand-operated valve 3 and valve 7 operated by an expansible tube 6 in the usual manner. The tube 6 is also provided with an electric heater 11, the circuit of which may contain any controlling device such as a relay, or heat-operated device 20. The latter may be arranged in a room the temperature of which is to be controlled. The electric heater may, in addition, be provided with contacts 14 which are separated by the inward movement of the valve 7 on reaching its seating, whether or not the room has reached the desired temperature. The electric heater may be controlled from a distance by any means other than a heatsensitive device.
