Abstract
474,580. Valves. KAMMER, G. S. April 23, 1937, No. 11737. [Class 7 (vi)] [Also in Group XXVI] In engines with two sleeve valves interposed between the cylinder and piston, such valves having peripheral end facings adapted to engage seatings, the seatings are disposed near the inlet and outlet ports, which are located at opposite ends of the cylinder. The cylinder 1 has an inset ring 9 adjacent the inlet port 5 with which the end 8 of a sleeve valve contacts in its closed position. A second sleeve valve 4 has a peripheral end 11 adapted to seat on a flange 10 on the valve 3, such seating being adjacent the outlet port 6. The valve 3 has openings 12 controlled both by the valve 4 and the piston 2.
