Abstract

500,060. Screw clamps. FELLOWS & DARBY, Ltd., FELLOWS, J. S., and DARBY, B. G. Sept. 9, 1937, No. 24559. [Class 44] [Also in Group XIV] A screw clamp comprises a fixed jaw 9, and a movable jaw 10 pivoted on a pin 11 engaging an enlarged or elongated hole 12 to permit sliding movement of the pivoted jaw towards the fixed jaw under the control of a clamping screw 15. The body 2 of the clamp is slotted vertically at 3 to take a vertical pillar 1, e.g. of a display stand, and is slotted horizontally at one side to form a pair of vertically-spaced fixed jaws 9 between which the jaw 10 is pivoted by the vertical pin 11 passing through the two fixed jaws and through an elongated hole .or slot 12 in the movable jaw. The forward end 13 of the movable jaw is hook shaped and takes in a recess 16 of the body 2, and the rear end has a tapped hole 14 for the clamping screw 15 which bears upon the pivot 11. In a modification the clamping screw is carried by an extension. lug on the movable jaw and bears upon one of the fixed jaws.
