Abstract

523,182. Cylinders. HOUMOLLER, A. Dec. 28, 1938, No. 37626. [Class 7 (ii)] In a single-acting engine, the cylinder liner is divided into two or more parts, each of which is secured at its upper end and free to expand at its lower end. The upper part 1, of the two-part liner shown, is supported through the cylinder head on a frame member 4, carried by a scavenging-belt member 5; the lower part 6 is supported on a flange 16 on the member 5 which is attached to the main bearings by bolts 15. A rabbet 14 is formed between the two liner parts.
