Abstract

587,349. Electric cables. OKONITECALLENDER CABLE CO., Inc. Aug. 11, 1942, No. 11259. Convention date, June 14, 1941. [Class 36] Buoyant cables have a conducting core 8 stranded over hermetically sealed metal chambers 2. These chambers are filled with gas under, pressure substantially above atmospheric, e.g., 20 to 30 lbs. per square inch, and have ends 4 which are either formed convex or become convex under this pressure. The chambers are separated by cellular rubber partitions 6 which act as seals and are forced between the strands of the conductor 8 when the outer insulation 10 is vulcanized.
