Abstract

940,485. Bores with delivery spouts. THRISSELL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 11, 1960 [March 13, 1959], No. 8839/59. Heading B8P. A carton is provided, for liquid or finely divided materials, having two opposed sides 10 in the form of trays whose rims 11 are sealed to the edges of the intermediate portion of a strip 12 bridging the space between the trays, the end portions 17, 18 of which strip are sealed together along their margins and form a delivery spout when their extremities are unsealed. The sides 10 may be made from thin cardboard or like material by a pressing operation, and the strip 12 is of the same but thicker material. The sides 10 may be approximately square as in Fig. 1 or trapeziform, three corners being rounded and at the fourth corner 19, the rim 11 being folded as in Fig. 4 to penetrate between the portions 17, 18. A scored line 22 made across the portions 17, 18 facilitates removal of the sealed ends of these portions to open the carton and a fold line 20 allows the spout portion to lie along the top of the carton before use. The carton may be waterproofed by a vinyl or polyethylene coating, which coating allows the carton to be heat-sealed. Score lines 26, 29 in the portion 18 and lines 27 in the portion 17 are provided to assist opening of the pourer.
