Abstract
The invention comprises 3-phenyl -p-chlorophenyl and -p-tolyl-4-prop-2-ynyl- and 3-phenyl-4 - benzyl - 1 - (N - methylpiperidyl - 41) - pyrazolone-5 and their mono- and diacid addition salts, the preparation of pyrazolone derivatives of the general formula: <FORM:0843693/IV(b)/1> (wherein R represents prop-2-ynyl or benzyl and R1 represents phenyl which may be substituted by halogen (e.g. chlorine or bromine) or by an alkyl group of up to 4 carbon atoms) by condensing N-methylpiperidine-4-hydrazine with a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0843693/IV(b)/2> (wherein R1 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl), and the conversion of the products into salts with mono- or di-basic acids (e.g. hydrochloric, hydrobromine, sulphuric, citric, benzoic, tartaric, oxalic, succinic, maleic, acetic, naphthalene -1:5-disulphonic or hexahydrobenzoic acid.) Examples describe the preparation of the four specific compounds enumerated above, which are useful for the same purposes as the products of the parent Specification.
