In a joint statement on Tuesday, the Trump administration announced it would reinstate military aid to Ukraine and restart intelligence-sharing with Kyiv - after abruptly halting this after their row.

In addition to halting military and intelligence help, the US suspended Ukraine's access to some satellite imagery, space technology company Maxar said on Friday.

Just a few hours prior to Washington halting military aid to Kyiv, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who is taking a lead in Europe over Ukraine, announced it was time for "action not words".

She said: "The news overnight that America is halting military aid to Ukraine is profoundly worrying."

"I am perfectly aware that these wounds are indelible, beyond repair," Le Scouarnec said, in a halting but clear voice.
